Sally and Lettie: An Unlikely Friendship

Sally is a white girl in the free state of Illinois, who meets Lettie, her cousin's slave girl in Missouri. Lettie's owner is cruel and her family suffers. Sally's eyes are opened to the harsh reality of slavery, the dangers of the Underground Railroad and the need for secrecy. Their families are affected by the Civil War in many ways.
