Saanp aur Aaina (Short Stories)

Vaikom Muhammad Basheer was a renowned writer of Kerala. He wrote his stories in a very simple and popular Malayalam language and later this style of writing became the language of Malayalam fiction. It is said that innumerable phrases and various ways of speaking in Malayalam today have become possible only because of Basheer. In accordance with the general trend of Kerala writers, Basheer himself made reference to his own sect and his community in his stories and novels. And thus, Basheer's stories, which depict a purely Muslim environment, have found greater acceptance among the readers. This book contains a few of his selected Malayalam stories which have been translated from English to Urdu by Masoodul Haque.

ویکوم محمد بشیر کیرالہ کے نامور ادیب رہے ہیں۔ انہوں نے اپنی کہانیاں انتہائی آسان اور عوامی ملیالم زبان میں لکھی ہیں اور بعد ازاں ان کا یہی طرز تحریر ملیالم فکشن کی زبان بنا۔ کہا جاتا ہے کہ ملیالم زبان میں آج لاتعداد فقرے اور بات کہنے کے متعدد ڈھنگ بشیر ہی کی وجہ سے ممکن ہوئے ہیں۔ کیرالہ کے ادیبوں کے عام رجحان کے مطابق بشیر نے اپنی کہانیوں اور ناول میں خود اپنے فرقے اور اپنی کمیونٹی کو حوالہ بنایا ہے۔ اور یوں بشیر کی جن کہانیوں میں خالص مسلم ماحول کی تصویرکشی ملتی ہے ، ان کہانیوں کو قارئین کے درمیان زیادہ قبول عام ملا ہے۔ یہ کتاب ان کے چند منتخب ملیالم افسانوں پر مشتمل ہے جن کا انگریزی سے اردو ترجمہ مسعود الحق نے کیا ہے۔
