The collection includes Russian classical romances transcribed for female vocal duet. The pieces are from the repertoire of the outstanding ensemble of Ruzanna and Karina Lisitsian. The collection's highlights include A. Gurilyov's 'Bluebell', P. Bulakhov's 'No, I Don't Love You', A. Dargomyzhsky's 'I Feel Sad', etc.
For use in educational practice and in performance, as well as for home music making.
PREFACE
The pieces of this collection figured in the programs of our recitals for many years. Unfortunately, Russian composers, in contrast to Western (especially Italian and German) ones, were not especially active in the genre of duet for soprano and mezzo. To present a more complete panorama of Russian vocal music, we sang not only original duets, but also ensemble versions of solo songs. Some of them are published here. The romances and their arrangements were often selected with the help of the outstanding musician V. M. Shlyakhter. When performed by duo, some pieces sound in a rather unusual manner, with new, often unexpected nuances.
We hope that this collection will be useful to teachers and professional performers specialized in ensemble singing, as well as to vocal music lovers.
