Road to Tragedy

This work, "Road to Tragedy," is an abbreviated version of an earlier book entitled, "Arisan Maru: America's Worst Naval Tragedy." The text remains the same, but over 300 pages of appendices containing the rosters of the hellship Arisan Maru and the USS Shark II submarine are omitted in this version. "Road to Tragedy" outlines the events, omissions, and decisions that led to Japan's attack on the Philippines and the subsequent sinking of the hellship Arisan Maru with the loss of 1,778 POW lives. It is America's worst naval tragedy.
