Reflections on the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP)

Alongside the actions of the Federal Reserve and the FDIC, and the tax cuts and investments set forth in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, the financial actions authorised under TARP were critical in preventing a devastating collapse of our financial system and restarting economic growth. Hundred of billions of unused authority have been returned to the taxpayer to help reduce the debt and future budget deficits. This book examines the TARP program, two years after its implementation, as well as the current status and estimated costs of the program.
