Refined and Returned

The Watsons by Jane Austen is not well-known to many outside of her fans, but it should be.

Emma Watson is the youngest of six children born to a country parson who was taken away from her family at the age of five to be raised as the heir of her aunt and uncle; however, fourteen years later, her widowed aunt remarried and cast her aside. She found herself once again returned to her family as a well-educated young lady without a penny to her name. Hopes and dreams dashed-Emma must learn to live among less refined company than she has been used to while also getting to know the family from whom she has been so long estranged.

While looking down on the poverty in which her family live with their 'inferior minds and manners', Emma begins to think about her future anew. The introduction of a handsome but foolish flirt who has taken up residence at the local inn, an attractive but awkward and seemingly careless young lord, and an agreeable looking and sensible clergyman, along with the many differing personalities of her siblings, turn life in her new home upside down.

With a goal to make a place for herself, how will Emma cope with her new circumstances? Will she overcome her fears of abandonment and betrayal and bond with the family who sent her away all those years ago? Find out in this completion of Jane Austen's unfinished fragment.
