Recollections of Egypt

Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. So much has been written upon Egypt within these few years, that it may appear presumptuous in a female to think of adding to the number of books of travels in the ancient dominions of the Pharaohs and the Ptolemies. But if the recollections which I offer to the public in the following pages, do not tend to enrich Science and Archaeology, they may perhaps interest persons of my own sex, who, when they learn that a woman has visited, under fortunate auspices, those distant regions as far as the tropic, will not be averse to follow her in excursions, and to accompany her in the contemplation of so many wonders of of ancient civilization.
