World War Three came within a hairs breadth of extinguishing the light of humanity. We spent the next five hundred years turned away from our violent past. Half a millennium of peace and prosperity where we first rebuilt and then expanded out into the galaxy, discovering alien neighbors, witnessing wonders and creating miracles for all. Then we met the Hegemony. Now ten years after that horrific reminder of the reality of war we still struggle with the changes it has brought. Changes that threaten to fundamentally alter the way humanity looks at itself. Changes that threaten the stability of the Alliance that stood through the worst the Hegemony could bring to bear.
