Protectors of Paradise

This book details the fish and wildlife conservation efforts of the State of Florida. Specifically it traces the development of laws and the law enforcement agencies created to enforce them. It starts with the early history of fishing and hunting then proceeds to the Florida Fish Commission of the 1800s, the first Game Department, the Shell Fish Commission, the Board of Conservation, the Department of Natural Resources, the Department of Environmental Protection, the Game and Fresh Water Fish Commission, and the creation of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission of the 2000s. The people who worked for the agencies are recognized for their efforts through the years.
