Proficiency level English Reading - Practice texts and tests

This book is a culturally-relevant reader for students learning English as a second or foreign language (EFL, ESL) at C1 proficiency / advanced level. Each of the twenty units contains a culturally-relevant text and reading test questions to go with it, accompanied by a useful glossary and a language awareness page based on one or more language points illustrated in the text. Each unit serves four complementary purposes:

• To broaden students' background cultural knowledge of the English-speaking world
• To present a range of useful English vocabulary in context.
• To revise and in cases explain important points of grammar.
• To familiarise students with the nature and constraints of the main internationally-recognised proficiency-level reading tests.
