Yi Fu, written by Huang Sheng, a scholar in Qing Dynasty, mainly studied the meaning of words in the history of classics. Yi Fu Follow-up Study is one of Mr. Jiang Lihong''s representative works. It is called Yi Fu Follow-up Study because it has the same purport as Yi Fu. This book consciously explores the meaning and etymology of words from the perspective of language. For example, the literal meaning of some common words is widely known, but it also has some obscure meaning (such as thin waist, in addition to the literal meaning, there is the meaning of "e;coffin fasteners"e;; another example is that two or more words have different writing methods and words, but in fact, through the method of seeking meaning according to the sound, it can be proved that they are the same word (such as Tong Meng and Dun Wen, Dian, Dun Min). There are many wonderful discoveries in the book like this. The book also explores the etymology of modern folk sayings, reveals the loan of words and the extension of word meaning, and explores the evolution and development of word meaning in history. The first edition of this book was published in 1980, and an additional edition was published in 1987. This edition maintains the main body of the revised edition in 1987, and includes two other papers: Revised Yi Fu Follow-up Study and Revised and Enlarged Yi Fu Follow-up Study. The original index of four corner numbers was reorganized, and the index of sound order and stroke was added.
