Principles of Organometallic Chemistry

This text provides an invaluable introduction for all undergraduate students of chemistry and a useful reference of more advanced students. The main group elements (including silicon and phosphorus, but not Group VI) and the transition elements are discussed. Emphasis is laid on structure, bonding, preparation and general reactions, with many specific examples of the uses of organometallics in organic synthesis interspersed throughout the text. An elementary knowledge of thermodynamics, bonding theory and the use of spectroscopic methods of structure determination is assumed. The relevance of organometalic chemistry to industry is indicated throughout the book. There are study problems at the end of most chapters.
