Positive Opportunity

Snippets of My LifePOSITIVE OPPORTUNITYI was given a second chance at lifeon February 27, 1986. I suffered a concussionin a young businessmans basketballleague. It turned out that I had a blooddisorder, and when I hit my head, I formeda blood clot in my brain stem. This injury affected my coordinationthroughout my body, thus affectingmy vision, speech, and locomotion (walking). I cried for about a year! My parentsdidnt know what to do. Finally, I wasenrolled in an out-of-townrehabilitation center. I was forcedto deal with my disability. In doingso, I realized that I had a rock-solidfamily. Also, my cognitive skillswere intact. In short, I was a mentalgiant among the other clients. Idiscovered confi dence, patience, andendurance with these qualities. Ill have the opportunity to dosomething positive. Stephen M. Ambrose
