The course presented in the textbook is aimed at the development of the oral speech skills of those who have just begun learning Russian. The basic communication needs of the students in the everyday life situations are taken into consideration. The texts are provided with the necessary grammar commentaries, thus enabling the students to speak Russian actively starting from the first lessons. The learning material given in the textbook is in conformity with the requirements of the elementary (A1) level of speaking Russian. The course covers approximately ninety six academic hours.
