Pilgrim Fathers emigrating to America. Linguistic consequences

Many factors contributed to the expansion of the English language since it came in the British Isles in the fifth century from Northern Europe. Pilgrim Fathers emigration was one of the first successful emigrations to the New World that paved the road for others to follow, leading this way to the birth of American English, the variety of English that established the status of the English language as a global language especially after America ascended as the world s largest economic power.
