Phytochemical and Biological Study of Phyllanthus Niruri L.

Phyllanthus Niruri L, Indian medicinal plant has hepatoprotective effect. The study is designed for the development and evaluation for effective management of liver diseases using some of the Indigenous plants viz - Phyllanthus Niruri L. The coarsely powdered shade dried plant materials selected for the hepatoprotective activities were subjected for extraction with different solvent system. The extracts after concentration is first subjected for preliminary physical and phytochemical investigation to assess the quality of plant material and understand the nature of active constituents present. This includes the complete IR, NMR, HPLC study on extraction as well as animal study by using different models for hepatoprotective activity.
