Physical Optics

A branch of physics that explores the properties and behavior of light is called optics. It comprises two primary subfields, namely, physical optics and geometrical optics. Physical optics delves into phenomena such as interference, diffraction, polarization. Positioned between full wave electromagnetism and geometric optics, it views light propagation as wave-like rather than linear. This is the reason it is also known as wave optics.
