People Are Brown is a response to racism so endemic in our society that it is found in young children. We are taught to draw lines between us on the color spectrum. In People Are Brown, we explore color as it relates to human skin and the beauty of nature. Potentially negative concepts about color become positively charged as the concept of race is revealed in the light of truth. The idea of race is immaterial when the human reality is clearly seen: we are a singular species and one human family.
