Lanie Sanders is tormented by her childhood. Thirty-six-years-old, and still the nightmares haunt her. They were what propelled her to make a drastic career change after years in engineering. Now, as part of the Columbus Crime Labs, she pushes herself near the breaking point to solve crimes often similar to that which was perpetrated on her. She finds herself working for her the one person who seems to always get her, her lifelong friend, Ray Matthews.
