Obalende

Obalende is a must-read for our teenagers and mothers. Woven in simple yet ornamental literary expressions, the book reminisces about life on the island of Lagos in the '80s and the experience of the main character, Affiong, as a growing adolescent. The events captured in the book document the gradual breakdown of societal values, which are later replaced with anti-social norms and values, due largely to failure of leadership, collapse of constitutional democracy, poor parenting, dysfunctional families, and corruption, identified as major cogs in the wheel of national development."
