Oases Settlements in Oman

This book presents the oasis villages in northern Oman using photographs, technical drawings, and aerial photographs of an interdisciplinary project funded and carried out by the Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft (German Research Society / DFG). Today this fascinating cultural landscape, made possible by a complex irrigation system, is threatened with deterioration. In order to serve as the basis of future development of the country, the knowledge which was handed down and witnesses to the past should not be lost. Indeed, these oasis villages should be kept as significant cultural achievements. This book contributes to this endeavour.
