Not Guilty

My Nigerian middle name is Erutase, which means 'Not Guilty' My mother decided to name me this to prove to her in-laws that she was capable of bearing children, with me being the first daughter born after my older brother. To my mother, it meant a great deal to prove her critics wrong. As I came into my own, that notion is definitely something I can relate to. But, at the same time, my middle name also gives me licence (in a good way) to explore, try and achieve - and if it doesn't work, well I say to myself - 'I'm not guilty!'  I say that's the best tonic for low self-esteem in a world set-up it seems to drown people in self-doubt. Over the years,  I have used the spoken word to highlight some of the burning questions, challenges and observations I have had. I've distilled them in this little book, aptly titled:  'Not guilty'. In the pages you will find love, rage, history, questions and answers. And of course, there is humour. I thank God. Where would humanity be without it?
