In Beaverbite, Michigan, chaos is a lifestyle. Joe Thornton just wants to finish his cabin and survive winter, but Clarence—the giant, red-eyed moose—has other plans. Mayor Janet spirals into madness, hiring moose hunters, seducing officials, and pulling guns on DNR officers. Donnie drinks too much, Frank the chipmunk becomes a pocket mascot, and the whole town turns Clarence into both hero and menace. Just when Joe thinks things can't get worse, a letter arrives from his ex-wife Brenda—she's learned about his hundred acres and wants her cut. The past isn't done with Joe, and neither is Beaverbite.
