After escaping from the dungeon of the Flavian Amphitheatre, Lucretia found relative safety in Germanic territories. However, after her lover died during a trial by combat to select the tribe's new queen, her duty to kill her stepmother for causing her father's death, weighed heavy on her mind. After convincing her half-sister to stay with the Germanic tribe, she and Brianna headed back to Rome. On their way they fight deadly fights in arenas and at private tournaments, while planning how to convince her stepmother to face her in a deathmatch on the sands of the Flavian Amphitheatre.
