Nefertiti & The Great Lake

Nefertiti was the most beautiful girl in all the land. So beautiful in fact that she was held prisoner by the Great Lake itself. With her people in peril, she has to make a great sacrifice. This book celebrates young girls ages 2-10 while teaching them a joyful and self-respecting representation of "beautiful". This book was created out of the need to redefine the black princess and black fairy-tales as a whole.It seems like a simple idea, but love and respect for all girls of color, honoring their regality and admiring the beauty within each and every one of them creates the loving effects of positive reinforcement for girls about the acceptance of who they are. Moreover, it has a profound and unquestionable influence not only on themselves, but on those who are in their lives.
