Needs and Wants

Needs and Wants is aligned to the Common Core State Standards for English/Language Arts, addressing Literacy.RI.K.8 and Literacy.L.K.5. The concept of want versus need is explained through items that fall into either "e;fun"e; or "e;necessary"e; categories in this straightforward book. An inviting swimming pool and the fun it brings is set against a safe and secure home. Large delicious milkshakes are set against healthy drinking water. A graphic organizer in the back of the book places each item discussed into either wants or needs for the reader. This book should be paired with "e;Things I Need, Things I Want"e; (9781448887286) from the Rosen Common Core Readers Program to provide the alternative point of view on the same topic.
