Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. I have tried to interest the child in the animal by leading him to observe some things for himself, and also have told him some things that are important for him to know. I have also tried, when it was possible, to correlate number and color. The sentences are simple and short and easily grasped by even the youngest readers. When it is possible, it would be well to have stuffed specimens of the different animals for the children to see, and encourage their going to the menagerie or to the country to see the larger animals for themselves.
