Native Footsteps

Native Footsteps tells the stories of Native North American devotion to Saint Kateri Tekakwitha from past to present. Saint Kateri, a 17th century Algonquin-Mohawk convert, is the first U.S. Native American to be canonized by the Roman Catholic Church. These 38 documents and interviews, most of which came from Marquette University’s Native Catholic archival collections, illustrate numerous ways a saint’s life has touched native people of diverse lifestyles and tribal backgrounds
