Liliya's stories and the changes they make for her listeners do not go unnoticed by the forces of that world. The Wind--the ancient Devourer-of-Stories--attacks her village, intending to steal the stories she carries. Knowing she must protect the stories, she follows the only advice she is given: to discover her own story. Her light-colored hair, a trait found exclusively among people of the north, is her only clue to her past.
