Myrtle the Sea Turtle

This book tells the story of a loggerhead sea turtle named Myrtle. When she was born, she had trouble digging herself out of the nest. Luckily, there were two small children who played on the beach inSouth Florida and knew that baby turtles hatched in August andSeptember. And they were ready to help. They saved Myrtle and tookcare of her as she grew stronger in an outdoor seawater aquarium. They became friends while she was there. After Myrtle grows up in the Sargasso Sea and becomes a mother,she finds her way back to the same beach where she was born tolay her eggs year after year. The story of her miraculous rescue asa hatchling is told to Porpie, a porpoise who is an ocean friend andan enthusiastic listener. He swims alongside her on her journey. Henever tires of hearing Myrtle s story. They swim together in the GulfStream headed toward the beach where Myrtle was born and whereshe will lay her eggs. The story has a heartwarming ending as Myrtlecomes full circle and finds her way back to her birth beach.
