My Parenting Memoirs

What our parents taught me and my husband in the last century got us through the first few years of married life. Then, socially and globally, society shifted. We began to see alternate philosophies being applied. One of my children saw the shift and said, "Mom, it seems like the 1950's were the best time to live in".

I agreed. Suddenly we faced challenges we never heard about as we grew up. Tolerance for rebellious behavior was everywhere. Buildings were bombed, and listening to the evening news no longer explained anything. Peoples' opinions became paramount to truth and reality. The constitution of our country came into question and now people scramble to find answers only to be met with a robo-call.

Some things stay the same; mothers still love their children. Many people have asked me how I did it; how did I manage to rear four successful children. I would like to present this memoir of my adventures, trial and error, as how we did it.

We had a saying in the 1950's which probably makes no sense to anyone Today, " The proof is in the pudding". ( that's about as close to the Bible passage " You will know them by their fruit", as I can explain it. What we did or didn't do resulted in two men and two women who take excellent care of themselves and their families. I see them putting in to practice what they were taught and adapting to the culture shift.
