Mooshum told me what to do if I ever get lost in the bush… look to the tall ones, they will point the way home.

Moss Guide is a story of two children who get lost in the forest in the Mahtawi-sipiy backcountry. By remembering Mooshum’s teachings about the moss that grows on the north side of the trees, they are able to find their way home. This story teaches the importance of listening to our Elders and the knowledge they share about the world around us.

In this delightful picture book, distinguished Indigenous author, poet, journalist, and artist Carol-Rose GoldenEagle (Cree/Dene) takes readers on a wandering journey through the Mahtawi-sipiy backcountry, where an old teaching from Mooshum about Mother Nature helps to lead the way back home.
