Mont Pelee and the Tragedy of Martinique

Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. The illustrations that accompany the work are largely from photographs taken by the author himself, and many of them represent, in a way that has probably not been possible before, the consecutive stages in the paroxysmal eruption of a very active volcano. Other photographs were obtained through the kind permission of Messrs. Under wood Underwood, of New York, whose representative in Martinique was for a while associated with the author in his studies of Mont Pelee.
