In 1875, Molly Flanagan emigrated from Ireland with her parents. Their fairly comfortable life in New York left her unfulfilled and when her father died in a horse trolley accident and her mom two years after that, from pneumonia, she decided to move West. The only problem was the money, so she came up with an ingenious plan to travel to a city, then stop there for a few weeks while she worked and saved up enough cash to move on. She ended her journey, at least technically, in a small town in Northern California, called Paradise. What happened there would change her life forever.
