From January 21 to 25, 1998, Pope John Paul II made a five-day pastoral visit to Cuba, the first

by a Pope to the island in the history of the Church. John Paul II toured the island and from this

historic trip to Cuba remains his famous message "that Cuba opens up to the world and the world

to Cuba."

This book, with a prologue by Alberto Muller and epilogue by Marcos Antonio Ramos, collects

all the statements, speeches and homilies given by Pope John Paul II during his visit to Cuba. It

also includes the speeches of bishops such as that of Monsignor Maurice from Santiago de Cuba,

a fundamental text for the understanding of the Cuban reality. It also includes the visionary

Message of Pope Pius XII in 1954 where he announced difficult times for Cuba and then a

rebirth. The book contains black and white photographs of the Pope's visit.
