Me, She, and Her follows Rogene Reid’s journey as a single teenage mother navigating familial and cultural expectations about the ways she raises her daughter while making peace with the choices her own mother made in the past. It asks why subsequent generations continue to suffer when they have always been told that they have it so much better than their parents. And, considering all the criteria, is this even true? Told in a combination of personal essays and first-person stories, this diaspora memoir unfolds over the course of forty years and across two countries and three generations.
