Make It or Bake It

Make It or Bake It is a cookbook for everyone, but it was written specifically for foster youth to assist their journey of healing and independence. Many foster youths do not gain the social and life skills needed for adult life while they are in the foster system. Once they are out of the foster system, they are left to learn what they lack on their own. The author, a former foster youth herself, wrote this book from her experience and heart to help other displaced individuals. Food symbolizes nurturance, safety and the essence of life. Learning to care for oneself by cooking for oneself and others can help heal the wounds of abuse and trauma and assist in continuing the journey toward a positive, healthy and productive life outcome.
