Love is not pity

In this novel, Stefan Zweig presents his own vision of love and compassion through the relationship of the officer and the disabled girl... explaining or explaining the types of destructive effects of both love and compassion through action and reaction... The relationship begins with an ideal friendship motivated by compassion, then it turns into a kind of admiration, friendship, and love. . But, if love has this effect, what is the fate awaiting a relationship that is essentially based on compassion to begin with? All these questions are addressed by Zweig throughout the events of the novel, and we see that love has that tremendous influence that is capable of achieving miracles and being a medicine and a cure. We see love, on the other hand, creating an existential crisis that the individual cannot bear, and there is no way out of this destructive love except by escaping to another place where one ends up thinking about anything at all, that is, death.
