Little Yuanyuan

The Children's Paradise Magazine, published since the 1950s and run for 42 years, saw the creation of many renowned fictional characters by the editor-in-chief Luo Guanqiao. The gentle and agile Little Yuanyuan was one of them.Besides Little Yuanyuan, characters like the lovely little brother Maomao and the innocent Fatty all contributed to the magazine's circulation which equaled that of the Doraemons.Each installment of the Little Yuanyuan was not long, but full of plot twists, insightful morals from simple stories, humorous anecdotes and even atmosphere of traditional Chinese festivals. Adults and kids alike found them intriguing and delightful.Luo Guanqiao was a children's literature and art guru in Hong Kong.Since 1953, the Children's Paradise had published numerous excellent works and entertained generations of children and teenage readers.The most credible feature of his early works was their vernacular flavor which can be found in cover design and children's rhymes on subjects like the happiness in a rural family, picking water chestnuts in a lotus pond, celebrating the New Year and the Lantern Festival and moon watching at the Mid-autumn Festival, etcEven the post-80s and the post-90s, who were born after the magazine ceased publication are drawn by the vivid and timeless charm of Luo Guanqiao's pieces.
