The book is a literal exposition of Jesus' statements: "e;...I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven"e; (Matthew 18:3), and "e;I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it"e; (Mark 10:15). Jesus also said to his disciples, "e;Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these"e; (Mark 10:14). Like a little child seeks to answer the questions: How does one receive the kingdom like a little child? How does one change and become like little children? What does it mean that the kingdom of God belongs to such as little children?
