Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. On the 15th of July, 1778, Mr. Reed, as we have seen, resumed his place in Congress. He remained, with short intervals, at his post till the month of October, when, on his election to the Council of Pennsylvania, he resigned. During this time, his services seem to have been unceasing. He was a member of every important Committee; and, being the only speaking member from his State, seems to have taker! a lead in every discussion. He was one of the Signers of the Articles of Confederation, though not present when the amendments proposed to that ill-assorted instrument, on the part of Pennsylvania, were considered and decided.
