Eugene Vodolazkin is a Russian scholar and author. Vodolazkin has been awarded fellowships from the Toepfer Foundation and Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. He has written for First Things and been published in Plough. Won the Alexander Solzhenitsyn Literature Prize in 2019. Vodolazkin is considered to be one of the most important contemporary Russian writers, his books are translated to many languages and received international recognition.

Winner of two of the biggest literary prizes in Russia, "Lavr" is a remarkably rich novel about the eternal themes of love, loss, self-sacrifice and faith, from one of the country's most experimental and critically acclaimed novelists.
