Written in memory of Staff Sergeant Olaf Schmid, a bomb disposal expert killed in 2009 during the Afghanistan conflict, Lament embodies a sense of timeless commemoration. Combining this with Pott's striking harmonic language and deftly interweaving vocal lines results in a highly compelling work, both emotionally and musically.
