Labour Migration in the Post Liberalization Era

pokkari, 2020
englanti
There are extensive debates on the factors that cause migration, ranging from those that emphasize individual rationality and household demands, to those that cite the structural logic of capitallist development. In India labour migration is infuenced both by the social structure and the pattern of development. As such, the labour market forces are in operation today resulting in increased migration for work. Most people of working age cannot find employment which is adequate to support themselves and their families. The other important factors include demographic change, socio-economics and political crises in the country. The articles in this book attempt to present, in a nutshell, trends of labour migration in India, its causes and impacts. And it highlights the socio- economic and political issues on labour migration. CISRS is delighted to be part of this joint initiative with India Social Institute, Delhi.
