Kohtaamisia menneen kanssa

Kansanrunous pitää sisällään suuria tunteita ja kokemuksia. Se kertoo myös kohtaamisista ja keskusteluista sekä ihanteista ja kuvitelmista. Tutkimuksen keskiössä on kaksi tapausta: perinteenkerääjä, kirjailija Samuli Paulaharju ja hänen pitkäaikainen yhteistyönsä vienalaisen Anni Lehtosen kanssa sekä ilomantsilainen runonlaulaja Mateli Kuivalatar ja hänen maineensa.

At the core of the investigation are the circumstances around the actual work of collecting folk poetry and the images constructed of these archived texts. The main focus of the study is on the co-operation between Samuli Paulaharju, a Finnish writer and folklore collector, and Anni Lehtonen, a rune singer. The images associated with Ilomantsi are also explored. In sum, the aim of the study is not only to describe and analyse collecting situations but also to unpack the stratified interpretations of encounters between folklore collectors and singers.
