"Jewish Philosophy: An Historical Introduction" surveys the history of Jewish philosophy, from the formation of the Hebrew Scriptures to the present time. The book is intended as a text for courses in Jewish philosophy, as well as for more general courses in religious thought, Judaism, and philosophy. The texts highlighted include the Hebrew Scriptures, the Midrash, medieval rabbinic commentaries, and modern works of Jewish theology. Among the Jewish philosophers discussed are Judah Ha-Nasi, Saadia Gaon, Judah Ha-Levi, Abraham ibn Daud, Moses Maimonides, Levi Gersonides, Hasdai Crescas, Baruch Spinoza, Hermann Cohen, Martin Buber, and Franz Rosenzweig.
