"Innovations in Flotation Technology" approaches the flotation process from different points of view and covers all related fields, the emphasis being on the chemical engineering aspects which have, in the past, been relatively underappreciated. Flotation constitutes one of the most significant operations in mineral beneficiation. The process is also applied in water and wastewater treatment, which is very significant in the modern world and the environmental strains that it is under. The recycling of materials and by-products represents a promising area for the application of flotation technology. Work is continuously being carried out on the development of new flotation techniques which offer savings in terms of operating costs and energy, and the book presents some of the more promising of these: new flotation columns and dissolved air and electrolytic flotation. Modern flotation has permitted the mining of low grade and complex ores, overcoming the associated problems such as the existence of fine particles.
