The purpose of this book is not to produce novelty for its own sake. It is to offer a clear and inhabitable interpretive frame. The Bible is too often left in one of two conditions: either over-literalized into a record of external events detached from inward life, or dissolved into vague spirituality without rigor, precision, or structural clarity. Our book attempts another path. It reads Scripture symbolically, but with discipline. It reads psychologically, but without flattening mystery into mere metaphor. It reads inwardly, but without losing the grandeur of the text. It takes the language of consciousness, identity, imagination and spiritual transformation seriously, while preserving the seriousness of the biblical drama itself.
