Healing & Repairing

The book of Bereishit can be read a book of dysfunctional relationships-and attempts to heal them. Starting with the fractured relationship between God and humankind in the Garden of Eden, running through to the relationship with Joseph and his brothers, the book of Bereishit is replete with stories of dysfunction, maltreatment, and alienation. Yet it is also filled with gestures of repairing and rehabilitation-some of which are successful, and tragically some never get adequately resolved.
