Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. The present volume will shortly be followed bya similar one on Stone Fruits, Peaches, Nectarines, Plums and Cherries, and completed by one containing the smaller fruits, Gooseberries, Raspberries, Currants, Nuts, etc. It was thought well to publish the Apples and Pears at once rather than wait another year or eighteen months before presenting the complete volume.
